National Committees and the Board of National Committees (BNC)
On this page, you can find information about the National Committees (NCs), Candidate NCs and EYP Initiatives active around Europe. Their representatives gather twice every year at the meetings of the Board of National Committees (BNC).
National Committees, Candidate NCs and EYP Initiatives
The national EYP Committees exist to promote the objectives of the EYP in their country. This is often achieved by organising various European events like EYP Sessions.

The Board of National Committees (BNC)
The BNC consists of representatives of the National Committees. The BNC assembles twice a year in Berlin, and is otherwise active through a mailing list, various working groups and online voting on vital issues. In co-decision with the Governing Body, the BNC decides on policies and other major decisions, such as the recognition of a new National Committee.
According to the Charter of the EYP, the BNC acts as the voice for the NCs’ interests.
The BNC has full co-decision power with the GB regarding policy-making. Decisions must be made with an absolute majority of National Committees voting. The BNC can make proposals and recommendations to the GB. What is more it can take the initiative and make proposals and recommendations to the GB as well. Besides decision making, the BNC acts as a platform for the National Committees to share knowledge and know-how.
The work of the BNC is facilitated and administrated by a BNC board, composed of one Chair and two Vice-chairs, who are elected by the National Committees once per year.
In practice the BNC Board is also responsible for information sharing amongst the NCs, updating relevant lists and databases, compiling the BNC Meeting agendas and moderating the biannual meetings, as well as conducting voting on policy proposals and supporting the work of the Regional Development Council.
